This month’s featured project took us north to Muskoka, where fall colours inspired a complete bedroom transformation. Rich fabrics, custom bedding, and dramatic drapery transformed Helen’s once-muted bedroom into a warm, inviting retreat you can’t help but love.
Helen’s Project
Nestled in the picturesque Muskoka region of Ontario, Helen’s home is surrounded by the natural beauty of towering trees and brilliant fall colours. Yet her bedroom — one of the first rooms guests saw when entering — didn’t reflect that same warmth and vibrancy.
The challenge was to transform this quiet, understated space into a welcoming retreat that echoed the charm of its surroundings. The stunning Muskoka landscape and the rich tones of fall became the inspiration for the entire design, guiding every choice of fabric, colour, and texture to create a room that feels both cozy and captivating.

Light, Privacy, and a Touch of Drama
To complete the transformation, the window treatments brought the perfect balance of beauty and function. Inspiration That Began with Fabric
The journey to Helen’s Dream Bedroom started with a single inspiration — the stunning sham fabric that sparked the entire design. From that first fabric selection, the project blossomed into a beautifully coordinated bedding ensemble featuring a reversible duvet cover, a custom bedskirt with inverted fabric inserts, and a sleek upholstered headboard that ties everything together with understated elegance.
Helen added her own personal touch by incorporating her photography above the bed, blending it seamlessly with the wall colour and fabric tones. The result is a soothing, cohesive space that feels both deeply personal and professionally styled.

The Creative Process
Working with Helen was a joy from start to finish. Exploring fabric options together — discovering just the right mix of colour, texture, and pattern — brought her vision to life in a way that felt authentic and inspiring.
Once the custom bedding was complete, it became clear that the wall colours needed an update to complement the new design. We selected paint hues that reflected the warmth of the bedding and the natural beauty of their Muskoka surroundings. The transformation was immediate — the new palette tied everything together, creating harmony from floor to ceiling.

The Reveal
What was once a room hidden behind a closed door is now one of the first spaces guests are welcomed into — and one that Helen proudly shows off. Every design detail, from the handcrafted bedding to the perfectly chosen fabrics and finishes, reflects her taste and the craftsmanship that went into bringing her dream to life.
