So what keeps our work fun and interesting?
I loved the uniqueness that our business provides, offering opposites of the design scales – from Victorian bathrooms to In-door Outhouse-styled bathrooms. Custom Bench Seats that accommodate every crevice, to bedroom benches and library sitting spaces.
I have been asked to make some pretty interesting things over the years, this one was a mink coat from a dear family member from one of our clients. She knew she would never wear the coat and no-one else in the family wanted it, so she asked us to make cushions for her sofa so she could enjoy the memories everyday instead of hanging the coat in a closet where no-one would ever see it.
Hospitality and Entertaining is what I love to do! We live in such a great area where we can enjoy our outdoor spaces, and enhancing the seating with comfy cushions made to withstand the outdoor elements, and adding overhead relief from the heat make entertaining that much more pleasurable. We love going beyond the window treatments with upholstered seats and table cloths that dress up the dining experience. For our tablescapes, we use table cloths, precious pieces and a variety of textures for a unique look.
Furniture has also been a big part of our business. In the first photo, this piece was old and neglected, and working with our creative furniture building and refinishing experts, we re-created this piece into a beautiful loveseat. I am always impressed how refinishing wood brings out the natural beauty of the wood and it’s grains. We also work with people who build furniture from scratch to our specifications for this huge common area lounge space in a retirement living building in Whitby.
This was a project where we created spaces in common areas for all to enjoy. Serving the needs of so many different people in so many different walks of life is rewarding, bringing organization and functionality together in one space for all to enjoy.
So you can see…it’s not only about the window treatments we create, it’s about the whole home experience that goes into each project. We connect with our clients, we listen to their stories, and then we integrate their needs into how we can service them best. A real joy exists when all these elements come together and that’s why, after four decades, we continue to do what we love most.
