SEAMS to ME...It's Apple Picking Season!

1. Apple Picking:

A couple weekends ago, my sister in law, Elizabeth was visiting.  You may not know, but my husband Liam is a ‘spontaneous family adventure’ kind of guy.  Many times has he stretched me out of my comfort zone and I am always grateful for it.  (Although not always at the time). This time was Liam’s sporadic idea to go apple picking – and what a fun time we had! It was cool to see the different personality dynamics between the 3 of us… Elizabeth was a diligent labourer, going along picking the apples, Liam (previously working in the produce department of Sharpe’s food market) was enjoying a delicious honey crisp apple while making sure we were picking the best quality apples, free of faults, and then myself, Tamara, making sure I captured video and photo evidence along the way.  All in all, it was a fabulous fun time!  Have you been apple picking yet this year? – Tamara

2. Cycling and Walking in Durham Region

This could be a great location for your Family Walk this weekend.

3. Spaghetti Squash Boats

Spaghetti Squash Boats – stuffed with crispy chicken, melted cheese and marinara sauce. A healthier version of your favorite Italian dish. And the BEST spaghetti squash recipe ever.

4. Something to Ponder ...

5. Fun with the Family

Fall color hike – Make the most out of the gorgeous fall colors by taking the kids on a fall color hike! Give them a printout of the colors of the rainbow (or use paint sample cards) and have them find leaves and other items that match each color. Red, orange, green, yellow, and brown will be easy. But can they find something purple? What about black and white? This is a great way to entertain and occupy kids while hiking through the woods or local park. Don’t have time for a long hike? This can be done nearly anywhere – even in your own backyard.
