The Client
When I first met Cindy, she expressed how she had found her forever home, in the perfect neighborhood in Courtice, ON. As I got to know her, she told me how she felt about her home, that she wanted to turn it into a space she loves, that brings out the bling of her personality. After many years of teaching and caring for other’s needs, she wanted to treat herself and create the home she deserves. Cindy had searched for window treatments on her own and found us in the Our Neighborhood Bowmanville and Courtice magazine. “I had been looking for custom draperies for my living room for over 6 months but couldn’t find the right fit and person.”
Working with Cindy, we started with a transformation of her living room. She told me how she uses the space for entertaining and spends a lot of her time there throughout the day. When I arrived, there were sheers on her window as a temporary window treatment option. She wanted to add modern elegance to her room as well as some texture and character to tie the space together. She wanted a window treatment that lets a lot of light in but still adds some privacy from her neighbours. Cindy comments:

The Selection:
We selected a new sheer that featured a beautiful embroidered onion pattern in it. The sheer also has sequin laced through it that sparkles in the light. The perfect modern elegance! We decided to do a simple euro pleat style to show off the pattern on a simple rod with a hand draw wand to move the sheers. Next came the fabric. Cindy chose a stunning silver velvet fabric for the drapery panels. It was the perfect compliment to her area rug and upholstered wingback chair. To add a element of pattern, we chose to do a large top banding on the draperies in a modern geometric fabric. Combining these two fabrics was the perfect compliment with the royal blue velvet with a silver background and grey velvet created elegant curtain panels. We selected a motorized curtain rod so that she could close her curtains without having to reach around her furniture. Her curtain rod ends echoed the brown leather couch she had and tied the room together perfectly.
“Tamara came to my house with all sorts of fabric samples and ideas. She guided me into a whole new world of possibilities for my living room draperies. Tamara ensured that all of my drapery choices went with my existing furniture.”
The Installation:
When it came to installing the curtains, it was a day worth waiting for! Everything hung smoothly and the motorized rod worked great! The final reveal had us speechless. “There are really no words to describe my feelings. I was overwhelmed by the beauty, warmth, softness and luxury of my drapery choices. My drapery makes me feel like royalty. To say that I was ecstatic and over the moon in love with them is an understatement!”
Often in life we compromise our needs and wants for others. Affordable luxury can be achieved and we do deserve it. We spend so much time in our homes and it should be a space we love and want to share.

The Final Product:
